Bow Refreshing and Updating!

Is your daughter's hair bow collection starting to show a little wear and tear?  Over time those bows can become a little flat from packing, maybe a little frayed at the edges, or possibly your little one pulled them out of her hair loosening some of the components. Never fear, you don't have to throw that bow away!  I have just started offering Bow Refreshing services!  Call or email me for a consultation and we can figure out how to bring life back into those old bows!

Bow Updating services also available.  Your daughter may own a beautiful bow, but maybe it's just missing that little something it needs to make it special. I can add rhinestones, embellishments, and in some cases an extra layer of ribbon.  Contact me to set up a consultation!

Some of the services available:
  • trimming and sealing of ribbon ends
  • "fluffing" of bows
  • various repair and replacement of parts
  • adding of components and ribbon
  • changing of hair clips
  • and more!
Pricing starts at $1 and is assessed per bow and service.

If you purchased the bow from me you are entitled to one Basic Refreshing Service for each bow purchased.

Customer is responsible for any shipping costs.

Disneyland Hairstyles and Bows

My older daughter was so excited to go to Disneyland for the first time.  I wanted to make that day as special for her as I could, without overspending. Luckily, I started planning early and she was able to enjoy the day as a very special princess. Several of my friends have visited Disneyland with their daughters and they told me that if you dress your little girl as a princess all of the characters and cast members will address them as that princess.  How fun is that? So I began my search for the perfect princess gear.  Last August Costco was selling all of the Disney princess dresses for $18 each, as part of their Halloween collection. I purchased the Rapunzel dress and gave it to my daughter for Christmas. It came with a crown and gloves so that was an added bonus. The princess dresses at the Disney Store can be quite expensive and even more so at the park so I was happy to have found this savings. Additionally, knowing that she would be wearing it all day at the park I didn't want something expensive ruined.

I had heard about the princess boutique at Disneyland where girls can have their hair styled like a princess.  I called for more information and found out that the service would be $50!  YIKES!  As much as I would've liked to take her there, there is no way I would have spent that much money. So, I did some research on Pinterest to find the perfect hairstyle for that day.  I found this picture.  It looked easy enough and I found some ribbons that matched the Rapunzel dress to cover the rubber bands. I highly recommend this hairstyle for Disneyland, it lasted all day long!  We did see many little girls who had their hair styled at the princess boutique and in all honesty it was just a high bun with glittery hairspray.  Several moms commented to me that they wished they had just done what I had. I also accented her hair with pink sparkles. I found a tube of pink sparkle (like a mascara tube/applicator) at Target around Halloween and used that. Styling product is so important when making a hairstyle last all day.  Below is a photo of the products I use when I want my daughter's hair to last all day.

(spray detangler on hair while combing, use some of the putty while styling, use some of the curl sculpting gel on the ponytails before curling with 1 inch straight iron, and finish with hairspray)

I also have an infant daughter and I didn't want for her to be left out so I found a tiny Cinderella dress on Amazon for her to wear.  I think it was $16. Since her hair is not very long I used a crocheted headband with a Cinderella styled bow. Everyone at the park loved seeing a baby dressed up and all of the sparkles kept my daughter entertained as she sat in her stroller.

(I forgot to "poof" the bow back up after it was packed, so it looks a little flatter than it usually does)

All of the planning and preparation paid off because both of my girls had an amazing day!  If you decide to dress your daughter as a princess be sure to get a picture of her with the actual princess-priceless!!  Also, if you don't know about PhotoPass, look into it because those photographers get the most amazing shots when you are too busy to do so.

Recently my family visited Disneyland for the first time.  I love to dress my girls in matching outfits, so naturally they needed matching bows as well. I found their shirts at Target and then used matching ribbons for the bows. I was so thrilled with the results and the girls received many compliments on their bows. Excellent Book

I just finished reading The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs. This book is such an excellent testament to the depth of friendship. I especially liked the knitting metaphors sprinkled throughout the book. I do enjoy knitting, while I'm not skilled at it, I do find it very calming. I think that one of the passages in the book speak to all crafters and the value of homemade items:
"Every knitter stitches with love, even when they are just starting, all red-faced and frustrated. Why else would we create? Especially in a world that doesn't need homemade anything. That's when we need homemade everything. It doesn't matter if things don't end up just the way you planned. Every moment is a work in progress; every stitch is one stitch closer." (p. 351)
I think with the everyday hustle and bustle of the world it is so nice to sit down and make something yourself. Whether it be a craft, a piece of art, or an excellent meal. I have been so blessed by the support of others in my endeavor to create a business from my crafting that I want to support others who are trying to do the same. I've mentioned before how impressed I've been with the quality of products on Etsy. I am going buy as many Christmas presents as I can from those with Etsy boutiques. I encourage you to look into it too! If you find a great product that you find share-worthy let me know! I will also post about the cool items I discover! Happy Shopping!
